Self-learning module on the use of Virtual Reality in Higher Education publishedThe digital and freely available self-learning module provides practical information and a guide for planning and conducting teaching sessions. The module is aimed at university lecturers, tutors, and educational developers who are interested in using Virtual Reality in their own teaching and want a compact overview of the basics, didactics, and applications in education. After completing the learning module, you will be able to define immersive technologies, particularly Virtual Reality, and classify them in relation to adjacent terms, explain the differences between various VR systems and compare their advantages and disadvantages, comment on the use of Virtual Reality from a media-didactic perspective while citing relevant models and findings, and reflect on the use of Virtual Reality in your own teaching and design your own teaching concept. The learning module includes self-reflection questions, tests to assess knowledge, numerous practical examples, and an interactive guide for planning and conducting a teaching session supported by Virtual Reality. The digital self-learning module was developed and implemented by the Labs for Innovative Teaching team as part of the NIDIT joint project. The self-learning module is freely accessible via the ILIAS portal of JLU Gießen. To the Learning Module on ILIAS
