Project M1
M1 develops new β-Ti alloys based on Ti-40Nb with low stiffness and high static and dynamic strength to better support fracture healing in systemic bone disease. For osteosynthesis plates, In-containing cast alloys are further improved by compositional modifications and mechanical working. A new focus is the analysis of the fatigue behaviour in dependence on microstructure, surface state and medium. For surface activation, oxidative and biofunctional coatings are investigated. Porous bodies processed by powder technology are further developed as mechanically stable carriers of biofunctional materials.
