Dear international PhD Students,

We would like to kindly invite you to our workshop, "How to Successfully Apply for Scholarships in a German Context" with Laura Popa!

Workshop

As an international student, you may feel particularly vulnerable during the scholarship application process. You may have limited knowledge of German and may not fully understand German academic culture. Thus, this workshop aims to help you overcome these obstacles. By learning about the StipendiumPlus network of organizations that support doctoral candidates, receiving advice on how to write an effective application, and feedback on your application(s), you will then be able to create a profile that matches at least one funding agency at the end of the seminar. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of the field of study or stage of the doctorate.

This workshop consists of two parts on two separate evenings (29.11 and 30.11) with the timings applicable to both days.

Lecturer

Laura Popa is a Ph.D. student and researcher at the GCSC, a becoming historian at JLU’s History Department, and a recipient of the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst scholarship. Over the past few years, she has conducted workshops that covered issues such as feminism, nationalism, as well as how to revise or rewrite theoretical frameworks for Cultural Studies projects. Additionally, Popa lectured on gender and nationality in nineteenth-century Europe, Italian evangelical women's history, and U.S. religious history.

Register by 24. November by contacting us: promotionsstudium.international@uni-giessen.de
The event is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office within a DAAD programme.
