In September, we took part in the International Materials Science and Engineering Congress - MSE 2024 in Darmstadt. We had the pleasure of presenting our research in five talks. We used the time to exchange ideas with other researchers and develop new ideas.

CMCEE14, Budapest 18.08.-22.08.2024
Prof. Maren Lepple has been invited to give a lecture at the 14th International Conference on Ceramic Materials and Components for Energy and Environmental Systems (CMCEE14). In the session Advanced Ceramic Coatings for Power Systems she gave the lecture "High entropy zirconates for TBC applications - influence of cationic parameters on phase formation and properties".

Circular Econimy Summer School 2024, Gießen 02.09.-05.09.2024
As part of the CLOCKS project (CLOsing the loop: building Circular sKillS on the entire value chain), a summer school on the topic of “Circularity and sustainability by design” was held in Giessen this year. Problems and possible solutions for a more sustainable future were presented in various lectures.

FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2024, Manchester 15.07.-18.07.2024
In July, Giulia Bianchi and Benjamin Zimmermann took part in the FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2024 in Manchester and each presented their research work in a lecture. Giulia's talk on high-entropy oxides was entitled "New High-Entropy Oxides as Potential Thermal Barrier Coatings: Study on Different Compositions and Synthetic Approaches". Benjamin gave a talk on his battery research entitled "New Multicomponent Li-Garnets as Solid Electrolyte Material for Li-Ion Batteries".

Annual Materials Researchers Day

12.07.2024

This year, the working group once again took part in the Annual Materials Research Day. We were delighted to exchange ideas with our colleagues from Marburg and Giessen and presented our research in two posters.

HTCPM 2024,
Les Embiez island

09.06.-14.06.2024

In June, Jonas Pflug took part in the High Temperature Corrosion and Protection of Materials (HTCPM) symposium in France, where he presented his research findings on the corrosion of thermal barrier coatings in the form of a poster entitled "Investigation of Multicomponent Equimolar Rare-Earth Zirconates". He also took the opportunity to exchange ideas with other researchers about their research work on corrosion.

Metal and Alloys UBT Seminar

03.06.-07.06.2024

Giulia Bianchi had the opportunity to familiarize herself with the working methods of the partnership during a seminar held by her cooperation partner from Bayreuth. She presented the results of her research in a talk entitled "Influence of cationic parameters and synthetic route on phase formation and thermophysical properties of multicomponent equimolar oxides".

51st CALPHAD, Mannheim 26.05.-31.05.2024
During the 51st International Conference on Computer Coupling of Phase Diagrams and Thermochemistry (CALPHAD) in Mannheim, Prof. Maren Lepple and Alina Habermann were able to gain insights into the current development steps of various phase diagrams and their calculations. Alina Habermann also presented her research in a poster presentation for the international participants.

26. Spring Symposium, Ulm 12.03.-16.03.2024

At this year's spring symposium in Ulm, Manuel Schenker presented his research in a poster presentation and took the opportunity to exchange ideas with other young chemists from around the world.

BMBF NanoMatFutur Networking Event, Berlin 14.02.-15.02.2024

In recent years, it has not been possible to organise a network meeting for the group leaders of the BMBF NanoMatFutur and BattFutur junior research groups due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year the time had finally come and we were able to present our projects to each other, exchange ideas and network and get to know the PtJ and VDI staff in person. The event took place at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) not far from the Chancellery in Berlin.
