Business
Depending on the subject background, the move from non-university research to business can be an obvious next step, as there is already a close exchange. This is the case, for example, in economics at the interface with human resources or in the life sciences in connection with research and development departments. However, depending on your subject background and personal interests, other options may also offer interesting career opportunities for you.
The application processes in the university sector can differ significantly from those in the private sector. From your previous work experience at the university, you can extract your experiences and competences relevant to future employers, for example in the field of leadership, and demonstrate them in your CV.
Already as a postdoc at the university, you can build up a network in the business world, for example through cooperation with business enterprises, mentoring programmes or conferences. Career and recruiting fairs also offer the opportunity to introduce yourself in person to potential employers. Some companies are also present at large scientific conferences to recruit future employees.
