The basic course (Grundkurs) is designed for first-year PhD candidates. We will cover various facets of writing a dissertation: what a finished dissertation looks like and what is expected of it; how to structure one's writing process and the text; how to decide on an appropriate corpus, method, and theoretical framework; and how to formulate and update one's research questions. The course provides support for questions about how to get started, and allows time for participants to work on their own texts, research questions, and table of contents.
